New New New! This is the Deluxe 160 model of the new 2008 Tube Cube line of power attenuators.
Features 160 watts, 4 ohms, 8 ohms, single channel, dual outputs, simple and inexpensive, new style enclosure.
This is called the "Deluxe160" which is version 3 in the Tube Cube family.
I have had some good comments from my customers (thank you!) and have decided to make a couple of improvements to my Tube Cube.
So, This is version 3.
Same sound, same parts and specs, however, this one has a new rugged metal enclosure, additionally, comes equipped with a heavy carry handle.
Also, for you DIYers out there, this enclosure can be opened up.

Tube Cube
Do you love the cranked up tube amp sound but cant stand to listen to the neighbors complain?

Then you need a Tube Cube, It is a Power Attenuator without the high price of the name brands..
Tube Cube plugs in between the Guitar Amplifier and the Speaker using standard 1/4 inch jacks, (It is a power soak/sink, not the cheaper type that plug in the effects loop).
You can now crank your amp volume control up to obtain the best possible crunch tone, while keeping the speaker volume at a much lower level.
Run multiple speakers without worry, your amp drives the cube at your selected impedance even with extra cabinets connected, or no speakers attached at all.
I use this with my setup, which is a Fender Blues Deluxe tweed along with a LE American Strat and a ES 335 copy, sounds awsome.

You can now crank your amp volume control up to obtain the best possible crunch tone, while keeping the speaker volume at a much lower level.
It is "impedance matched" which means it is adjustable for a wide range of impedance settings, via top mounted slider switch. (8 to 20 ohms) regardless of speaker impedance. Many Fender amps use 8 ohms.
Each amplifier has an ideal impedance rating that it expects to see from the speaker. This unit lets you adjust your load to match your amp, while running multiple speakers. Now you can run 2 or more speaker cabinets from your amplifier safely.
The Unit will handle up to 160 watts and has 12 volume positions, from OFF to full on.
In all volume positions, the unit maintains the appropriate load on your amplifier output stage.
Also comes with a 3 foot long speaker cable. (try buying those!)

Disclaimer, If you know how to use one of these, then rock on. On the other hand, If your not sure about your "impedance", or have no idea how to hook one of these guys up, then suggest you get some pointers from your local music store guru's. I am not responsible for damage to your amplifier or speakers caused by incorrect operation, or from cranking your amp up to 10 for hours at a time. (it will sound NICE!) .

"I love the attenuator. Took it to my regular Wednesday night jam and used it with a Carvin Nomad, the same model of amp I have at home and the amp which inspired me to look for an attenuator. The sound was incredible. Easily found a setting that worked with the two guitars, bass, and drums line up. I think the real proof of how much the cube did for my sound was the fact that I used no efx other than the amp's reverb and its two channels. I?m always trying efx; especially overdrive pedals in an effort to find a sound I like. Having read the more detailed description & instructions I hooked the Tube Cube between my Marshall Superbass & Etone cabinet containing an Etone 13 1/2 inch 200w bass speaker. Everything was set properly so I turned things on, let the amp warm up before selecting run & then had a bash. It works. My solid body bass thundered away happily without shaking the house down or the posters on the walls setting up sympathetic vibrations. I worked through the range of vol setting on the cube and found one that suited the occassion - loud but not painful. I plugged in my Epi Sheratone II & I love the extra colour of the valves being run hard. Massively reduced feedback too! I hadn't played this particular guitar at sufficient vol to hear that aspect before - it hasn't left the house. Next I plugged in my Bruno Royal Artist & the single coils are really great with hot tubes. Bridge pickup swung & stung. Being that I don't have the advantage of a Master Vol or Gain set up on the amp I decided to push the signal a little. I plugged in a recent acquisition - a Morrison Big Fluff - hand made in Tasmania (highly recommended - rugged, great sound & a pretty blue light). WOW! Drive & Vol set at 1/2 way & sustain almost to max it sounds really great with the new amp set up. It sounded pretty bloody good before but it suits the cranked tubes even more. After all that I went back upstairs. My ears weren't ringing, (well, no louder than the normal tinnitus I live with), no head ache &, most importantly of all, no complaints from the spouse. Hey hey, just wanted to say how impressed i am with my tube cube. i can't believe i've used tube amps so long without a decent attenuator. The tone my Hot Rod Deluxe has now is truly unbelievable. I've submitted a review on harmony central so we'll see if that goes up. I've got a cream Hot Rod Deluxe with the reissued Tung Sol 6L6GCs and when it's turned to 10-11(they go to 12) it just sounds amazing, but am I risking blowing something running it that hard? Anyways, really nice work! I'll be recommending them to everyone I can!
